Downtown construction is underway!

The downtown will remain accessible and we plan to remain open throughout the construction which is expected to continue through late fall 2008.  We will be making our rear entrance temporarily available during construction and we have some private parking directly behind our building.

8/21/08 Update:

We get our construction updates on Wednesdays so we will do our best to update the website with the latest info every Thursday or Friday.

Parking:

Parking in the lot behind our store is once again available but check the construction updates for the latest news about whether or not you can enter through our back door or have to use the front door. Parking remains plentiful in front of the store in the evenings and on weekends. During the day it's definitely better to park in the Village Hall parking lot.

The Village Hall lot is just across the street and it is much easier to cross now that there is not the constant traffic. Parking out front is allowed on weekends if there are not big piles of sand blocking the road. So far parking and access have not been difficult so don't let it scare you off.

Construction:

Work on the railroad bridge started today and Jefferson Street is closed (at least during the day). We still recommend accessing downtown via either North Main Street or Janesville Street.

The alley behind the store was paved today (8/21/08). Parking is once again available directly behind the store and is a good choice when you stop in. The sidewalk out front was completely removed today and they have created a decent dirt sidewalk and entryway to the store. They are planning to pour concrete on Jefferson Street starting tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Once that's done they will pave Jefferson Street and access to the back parking lot will be very good.

Work on the railroad bridge is progressing well.  The engineering representative was not present at the Wednesday meeting so we are not sure if they are on schedule. We hope that Jefferson Street will be reopened by September 1. Look to future updates for better information.
